When it comes to yoga asanas, pranayama and different yoga practices you must understand some days you'll be able to do better than in some other. Never be anywhere that hurts (and I mean the bad pain when you know you've gone too far), never be anywhere that you can't breath. Regular practise and persistence is the key.
Something important to understand about yoga is that there is no competition who can perfect a posture quicker or hold it longer or anything like that. Yoga is not just another fitness class you do at the gym to get in good shape. It is much more than that. Only when you understand it, you'll be able to practise it with ease, will actually enjoy it and you will progress immensely. Maybe then you'll set on the right way of finding out the real purpose of yoga.
